The most innovative entrepreneurial initiatives within two areas, education and technology, have been selected by enlightED, the world conference that debates education in the digital age, as winners of the enlightED awards 2020. Among the selection criteria, their innovative character, viability, scalability, team profile and ability to attract investment have been assessed.

The finalists have travelled to Madrid to present their projects and, in addition to the awards from the competition organized by South Summit, enlightED has awarded 4 awards today.

Smowltech: ‘Best startup in Higher Education’

The IE University award has been awarded to Smowltech. The objective of this Spanish startup is to help organizations improve their academic integrity online in order to gain trust and prestige in the market. It provides a continuous online protection service, through facial recognition. Thus, it allows organizations to increase their offer with credibility and profitability.

PraxiLabs: ‘Startup with the best technological solution for learning and training’

This award, granted by Fundación Telefonica and Telefonica Educación Digital, has been for PraxiLabs, a startup that comes from Egypt and provides equal opportunities for STEM education for students from all over the world, providing interactive virtual simulations in 3D.

NeekidsApp: ‘Startup with the greatest social impact on education’

Fundacion Santillana has awarded this title to NeekidsApp, a tool that performs psychopedagogical, neurocognitive and neuropsychological tests to create a neurodidactic profile. In this way, machine learning techniques are created to recommend the best educational program adapted to the special needs of each child.

Marmelade: ‘Most Scalable Edtech Startup’

Wayra , the accelerating development of startups Telefonica has selected Marmelade, a French startup that has designed an application of micro-learning, which enables users to easily learn while answering a question unlock your phone.

Finally, PraxiLabs has been the winner of the biggest accolade of the event, the ‘EDTECH Award to the global winner enlightED’, chosen among all the almost 600 participants.

The jury has been made up of David Calle, founder of beUnicoos; Bernhard Niesner, CEO of Busuu; Nacho Mateo, Chief of Investor Relations at IE Business School; and Miguel Arias, Global Entrepreneurship Director at Telefónica.
